If you want the newest features, a smaller design, and USB-C charging, we recommend the Nova. If you prefer a simple, straightforward listening experience, the Classic is an excellent choice.

Yes. Both are designed to help you locate and listen to fetal heart sounds. Their main differences are size, design, display, charging system, and convenience features.

Many parents begin trying around 12 weeks, but every pregnancy is different. It may be easier to locate the heartbeat later as the baby grows. Not finding it at home—especially early in pregnancy—does not necessarily mean anything is wrong. Gestational age, baby and placenta position, body type, and technique can all affect the result. Contact your healthcare provider with any concern.

Ultrasound transmission gel is strongly recommended. It improves contact between the probe and skin and helps transmit sound. Do not use the Doppler on dry skin.

1. Lie down or recline comfortably.
2. Apply a generous amount of ultrasound gel to your lower abdomen.
3. Turn on the Doppler and connect the probe if needed.
4. Place the flat probe surface against your skin.
5. Move very slowly, using small tilting motions.
6. Pause for several seconds in each position.
7. Turn off and clean the probe after use.

Early in pregnancy, begin low near the pubic bone. Always follow the instructions included with your model.

It is often described as a fast, rhythmic galloping sound and is generally faster than an adult heartbeat. You may also hear your own pulse, blood flow, or movement. A home Doppler should not be used to interpret or diagnose your baby's health.

Common reasons include early gestational age, the baby's position, an anterior placenta, searching too quickly, insufficient gel, or an unstable signal. Try again later when relaxed, moving slowly with small angle adjustments.

Not finding a heartbeat with a home Doppler is not a reliable indication that something is wrong. If you are worried, have unusual symptoms, or notice a change in your baby's normal movement pattern, contact your healthcare provider.

Earlier in pregnancy, fetal sounds are often located low near the pubic bone. As the uterus grows, they may be found higher. The exact location varies with gestational age and the baby's position.

The number may fluctuate while the Doppler processes a sound. Movement, weak contact, background noise, your own pulse, or an unstable signal can affect it. Keep the probe still after locating a clear sound. Do not use the displayed number alone to assess health.

Yes. Your pulse and blood flow can sometimes be detected and are generally slower than a fetal heartbeat. If unsure, compare the sound with your wrist pulse. A healthcare professional should evaluate medical concerns.

Babies move frequently, and their position can change. Gestational age, placenta placement, probe angle, and listening location can also affect results. A home Doppler should never be used to determine whether your baby is well.

No. Hearing a heartbeat does not confirm that a pregnancy or baby is healthy. Seek medical care for bleeding, pain, fluid leakage, contractions, decreased fetal movement, or any concerning symptom—even if you can hear a heartbeat.

No. Follow your healthcare provider's instructions for monitoring fetal movement. Contact them promptly if you notice reduced or unusual movement; do not use the Doppler for reassurance or allow it to delay care.

Use it only for brief personal listening sessions and follow the product directions. Discuss home Doppler use with your obstetrician, midwife, or other qualified professional, especially for a high-risk pregnancy.

Turn off the device, wipe away all gel with a soft cloth, clean according to your model's instructions, and dry thoroughly before storage. Avoid abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals, and very hot water.

No. Do not immerse the main unit, charging port, speaker, cable connections, or other electronic components. If your model includes a waterproof probe, that feature applies only to the designated probe.

Keep it clean and dry, away from direct sunlight, excessive heat, moisture, and young children. Avoid tightly bending or wrapping the probe cable around the device.

Oil-based products are not recommended because they may reduce performance, leave residue, or make cleaning difficult. Water-based ultrasound transmission gel is the best option.

Due to shipping and battery-handling requirements, the rechargeable battery may be packaged separately. Install it when your order arrives. Once installed, recharge the Nova through its USB-C port without removing the battery.

Install the included rechargeable battery, connect a compatible USB-C charging cable, and charge according to the included instructions. Ensure the port is completely dry first.

Use only the battery type specified for your model. An incompatible battery may damage the device or create a safety risk.

Confirm that the battery is installed in the correct orientation, connect a compatible USB-C cable securely, and allow sufficient charging time. Contact Petite Island Customer Support if the problem continues.

Confirm the device is on, the probe is securely connected, volume is raised, enough gel is applied, and the flat probe surface has full skin contact. Move the probe slowly.

Static can result from insufficient gel, poor contact, rapid movement, a loose connection, or nearby electronic interference. Add gel, reconnect the probe, and keep steady contact.

The device may detect sound before obtaining a stable signal. Keep the probe steady after finding a clear sound. The display is a convenience feature and is not for diagnosis or medical monitoring.
